Political Action
We believe all members of labor have the right to economic, political, and social justice.
Voices in Politics
Framed by its National Constitution, the APWU fights for living wages, workers’ rights to organize unions, and to stop trade deals like NAFTA and the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) that hurt workers in the U.S. and abroad.
We promote healthcare as a human right, taxing the wealthy, defending social security, improving workplace safety and protecting the environment, and protecting voting rights for all workers.
Movements of the people move lawmakers to action. We advance our political agenda through independent politics, with APWU member involvement in the grassroots political activities of lobbying, rallying, petitioning, and voting on issues as well as for candidates who support a strong public Postal Service and workers rights.
The Committee on Political Action: COPA
The union represents postal workers across the political spectrum and no union dues go to support individual candidates of various political parties.
The Committee on Political Action and the Union’s “Voices in Politics” program raise voluntary funds primarily to support Congressional members and candidates from any political party who champion working families and the public Postal Service – and to help defeat those who do not.
Contributions are used to amplify our voice on Capitol Hill and to defend workers’ rights.
