The APWU stands for unity of the labor movement as well as solidarity with the broader movements for peace and justice.
- Standing with striking Chicano apparel workers at the Farah Manufacturing Company in the 1970s.
- Supporting the Frontier Hotel workers in the 1990s.
- Backing the Farmworker Grape Boycott.
- Standing with Gallaudet University students in demanding a deaf/hard of hearing president.
- Participation in the AFL-CIO and the UNI Global Union.
- Participating in the 1981 and 1991 AFL-CIO Solidarity Day Actions.
- Opposing the war in Iraq in solidarity with the people of the world.
- Advocating for an end to South African Apartheid, sending observers to the 1994 election (first time citizens of all races were able to vote).
- Opposing the Trans-Pacific Partnership.
- Backing Native Americans at Standing Rock in protecting their lands.
- Participating in the Battle of Seattle against the World Trade Organization .
- Advocating for Martin Luther King Day as a federal holiday.
